Hundreds of properties in the southside of Glasgow were left without electricity after a power cut on Wednesday afternoon.

Scottish Power said 92 postcodes had been affected in the G44, G45 and G73 areas after outages were reported at about 15:40.

Areas affected include Cathcart, King's Park, Croftfoot and Rutherglen.

The energy firm said power supplies were restored by 17:30.

An SP Energy Networks spokesperson said: "Our network experienced two linked faults this afternoon, which affected power supplies to a number of homes across the southside of Glasgow.

"Engineers attended immediately and the majority of customers were back on supply within 20 minutes at most.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
