The new owner of Jersey's bowling alley has promised thousands of pounds of investment to improve the site.

Jonathan Ruff announced on social media last week that he had acquired Jersey Bowl.

Ruff said he spent nearly £3.5m to purchase the venue, that he planned to revitalise it, and he wanted to start renovations as soon as possible.

The site was officially opened in 1994 and has remained popular with families in the island despite aging equipment.

Ruff said work would start with "redoing the lanes", and refurbishments to seats and flooring woould "give it a nice lift".

He added: "The idea is to create the lower section to make it bigger so we can have a much nicer arcade; redo the reception, and so we're copying a lot of what Hollywood Bowl and Tenpin Bowl have done in the UK have done".

He said work was expected to start in March, but added the site would remain open for bowlers while improvements were under way.
