Isle of Man had warmest and driest July on record
MANX SCENESThe Isle of Man experienced the warmest and driest July ever recorded on the island.
July's average temperature came in at 17.4C – up 0.5C on the previous high mark seen in both 2006 and 2021 – and 2.1C above the long-term average for the month.
Although the island does not get the soaring heat seen in parts of the UK, it did experience official heatwave conditions, with the maximum temperature surpassing 25C on three days from 10 to 12 July.
The highest temperature of the month overall was recorded on 11 July, when the mercury rose to 27.2C.
July also saw only 3% of the typical monthly rainfall, with only 2mm recorded by Ronaldsway Met Office.
Minimal rain between 1 and 24 July made it the second longest meteorological absolute drought recorded for the month.
Some 291.9 hours of sunshine also made it the second sunniest July since records began in 1947.
