A man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Wolverhampton during which a pedestrian was seriously injured.

The woman, in her 50s, is in stable condition in hospital after she was struck on the pavement by a Seat Ibiza that had been in collision with another car on Goldthorn Hill at the Fowler Street junction, on Saturday evening.

Ryan Stanley, 28, from Newton Road, Birmingham, is accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, and failing to stop.

He was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court, said West Midlands Police.
