A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a teenage boy was shot in the street in Sheffield.

The 16-year-old was found injured on London Road at about 17:15 GMT on 24 November and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Tanzir Ali, 26, of Glencoe Road in Sheffield, appeared at the city's magistrates' court earlier, also charged with possessing a firearm without a certificate.

Meanwhile Sharna Osborne, 23, of Greenhill Road in Sheffield, is charged with assisting an offender.

Mr Ali and Ms Osborne were arrested in Aberdeen, Scotland, on Saturday and charged on Monday. Both were remanded into custody.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, were previously arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and remain on police bail, police said.

A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been released on police bail pending further investigations.

Patrols continue to take place in and around London Road, with people with information or queries urged to speak to officers in the area.

Mr Ali and Ms Osborne are due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 19 December.
