A 17-year-old boy has died in an early morning crash on a country road.

He was driving a red Volkswagen Lupo on a rural lane between Bradfield and the A340, near Bradfield College, west Berkshire, when the crash happened at about 02:20 BST on Wednesday.

Thames Valley Police said the teenager suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone who was driving in the area at the time has been urged to contact the force.

Sgt Rob Oliver-Clayson said a thorough investigation was being undertaken and that officers were particularly interested in hearing from anybody who might have relevant dashcam footage.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man who has sadly died," he added.
