A person has died and two firefighters needed to attend a hospital following a fire at a house.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 18:31 GMT on Wednesday to reports of a building fire in Hartsbourne Close, Bushey Heath.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to search for an unaccounted person, but later an individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two firefighters needed hospital assessment and have since been discharged.

The fire service said the cause of the fire was under investigation.

At the height of the incident 10 fire appliances were in attendance, including two from London Fire Brigade.

A water bowser from Bedfordshire Fire Service was used alongside an aerial ladder platform.

Andy Hall, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue's assistant chief fire officer, offered condolences to the bereaved family.
