Update 26 May 2026: This article originally reported that The Friary in Friar Gate, which dates to 1730 and is Grade II-listed, was the subject of an application to Derby City Council for an alcohol and live music licence for the building, as part of plans to open a new jazz bar. We have since confirmed that the application related to a different building and so we have removed this story.
