Boy, 14, dies in hospital after being hit by bus
GoogleA 14-year-old boy has died after being hit by a bus, whose driver was subsequently arrested.
Police were called to reports of a collision at The Hard, Portsmouth, at 16:25 BST on Monday.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since died, officers said.
A 39-year-old Portsmouth man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and bailed until 17 November.
Police have appealed for witnesses or people with dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them.
Bus company Stagecoach said it was helping the police investigation.
In a statement, the firm said: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of the 14-year-old boy following the incident involving one of our buses.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time."
The Hard is a busy street and travel interchange in the centre of Portsmouth, incorporating a bus station and Portsmouth Harbour railway station.
