Night-time road resurfacing work will cause some closures when it starts on a main route in Wolverhampton, the city council has said.

The temporary closure of Stafford Road's Three Tuns Lane island will take place from 19:00 until 05:00 BST from Wednesday until Friday.

The work is part of the council's £10m highways project to repair potholes and improve road surfaces in the city.

Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, cabinet member for city transport, said it was another "key" route being resurfaced which was used by thousands of motorists.

The repair work was approved by the council earlier this year and several projects have been carried out since.

"We've already completed work on major routes including Chapel Ash island and Ring Road St Georges along with many others in recent weeks," Gakhal added.

"This is another important step in boosting journeys for all road users across the city."
