Woman, 26, dies in two-car collision

A 26-year-old woman has died after two cars crashed in North Yorkshire.

Police said a white Volkswagen Polo and a black Audi A4 were travelling in opposite directions on the A170 between Wrelton and Pickering when the collision happened at about 01:30 BST on Wednesday.

The driver of the Polo was pronounced dead at the scene while five people in the other car were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while investigations took place.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who has footage that could help their inquiries to get in touch.
