Man charged after pedestrian hit by van
Brian L WaumsleyA man has been charged following a crash in Derby that left another man with life-changing injuries.
Officers were called to reports a van hit a man in Scarborough Rise, Chaddesden, at about 16:15 GMT on Friday.
A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries, and a 35-year-old man has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving a motor vehicle while above the legal alcohol limit, and two counts of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs.
Daniel Calladine, of Braintree Close, Breadsall Hilltop, was released on conditional bail following an appearance at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court earlier on Monday.
Mr Calladine is next due to appear at Derby Crown Court on 19 January.
