An investigation is taking place into the cause of a large fire at a Hampshire sports club.

About 70 firefighters were called to Hursley Sports Club on Hursley Park Road at about 23:00 BST on Saturday.

Supported by an aerial ladder platform, water carriers and other specialist vehicles, crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading, after finding the building "well alight".

Two crews had returned earlier to reinspect the scene and dampen down any remaining hotspots, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said.

Due to the size of the site, a further inspection will take place to make sure the area remains safe and there are no further signs of fire.

Firefighters will remain at the scene to continue monitoring the situation, the service said.
