Driver dies after four-vehicle crash on A82 in the Highlands
GoogleA 63-year-old man has died following a four-vehicle crash on the A82 near Glen Gloy in Lochaber on Monday.
The man, who was driving a Range Rover Sport, died at the scene of the collision and his 62-year-old female passenger was flown to hospital.
Police said four other people - the 42-year-old male driver of a lorry; the 19-year-old male driver and 21-year-old female passenger of a Hyundai i10; and the 70-year-old female driver of a Skoda Karoq - did not require hospital treatment.
The crash happened at about 12:00 near Letter Finlay. The road was closed for almost 12 hours to allow for a police investigation.
An air ambulance and two road ambulances were sent to the scene of the crash.
Sgt Ewan Calder, of Police Scotland, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who lost his life.
"Our inquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the collision to contact us.
"If you have dashcam, please check your footage for any images which could assist our ongoing inquiries."
A diversion was put in place via the A86. That road was also closed at about 15:00 following a collision at Strathmashie, near Laggan, but later reopened.
