Homes evacuated and power cut after fire
BBCAn investigation is under way after a fire in Derby led to "a small number of properties" being evacuated in the early hours.
Police initially said the blaze was at a house on Boyer Street, but Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service later said it was called to a ground floor flat fire at about 02:30 GMT on Wednesday.
Crews from five stations were sent to the scene, and properties nearby were temporarily evacuated while the fire was tackled.
One man was out of the property when firefighters arrived and was checked by ambulance crews at the scene for "precautionary checks for the impact of smoke inhalation".
Derbyshire Police said power had been cut to a number of properties "in order to ensure the safety of residents".
Work to restore power is ongoing, but the force said it was "likely to take a number of hours".
All evacuated residents have been allowed to return home, apart from those in two affected properties, police added.
Fire crews left the scene at 05:30.
