Two charged after defence firm office vandalised following break-in

Two men have appeared in court, charged with "malicious mischief" after the offices of a defence technology firm in Aberdeenshire were broken into and vandalised.

Police Scotland were called to to the Ultra I&C site on Prospect Road, Westhill, at around 09:40 on Sunday.

Footage posted on social media by activists appeared to show damage and Palestine flags hanging at windows in the building.

Sam Morgan-Hutchings, 39, from Glasgow and Joseph Gerrard, 18, from Gateshead were arrested and appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.

They did not submit a plea and were committed for further examination. Both men were granted bail.

According to the company's website, it "delivers crypto solutions, mission software and tactical communications built to keep operations moving".

BBC Scotland News has asked Ultra I&C for comment.
