Police hunt man seen with 'firearm' in Dundee street

Police in Dundee are appealing for information after receiving a report of a man in possession of a possible firearm in a street in the city.

The man was seen on Lochee High Street at about 09:10 on Tuesday.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries and reviewing local CCTV following the report.

The man is described as being 5ft 8in tall, with stubble or a short beard, wearing a dark jacket, a black hat with a bobble, dark trousers and grey trainers.

Chf Insp Colin Echevarria said: "We understand that reports of this nature can be concerning for the community, and I want to reassure residents that we are carrying out through enquiries to establish exactly what happened.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured footage in the area around the time the man was seen.

"Anyone with dash-cam, doorbell footage or private CCTV is asked to come forward."
