Two suspects will stand trial next year accused of murdering a man by shooting him dead in his home.

Robert Clark, 59, and Nathan Gordon, 31, allegedly assaulted Jordan Gray, 26, in Shields Court, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, on 14 December last year.

Court papers claim they repeatedly discharged a firearm at him as well as shooting him on the body. The charge states the pair had previous malice and ill-will towards Gray.

Both men have entered not guilty pleas and a trial has been set for October 2027 at the High Court in Glasgow.

A separate charge says that Clark had a firearm and ammunition without lawful authority or a reasonable excuse on the day of the killing.

And a third allegation says Clark and Gordon attempted to defeat the ends of justice on 14 and 15 December 2025.

It is alleged the pair disposed of the firearm and concealed their involvement to remove, conceal and destroy evidence.

Donald Findlay KC, defending Clark, pleaded not guilty on his client's behalf.

The advocate said: "It is a straightforward matter, the Crown have got the wrong person."

Graeme Brown, defending Gordon, also pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Kath Harper stated that at present there was "little that can be agreed".
