Tuesday's daytime sailings between the Isle of Man and Lancashire have been brought forward as the main ferry undergoes maintenance.

The Manannan is set to replace the Manxman on the route, with the 08:30 sailing from Douglas to Heysham departing an hour earlier than planned at 07:30 BST.

The fast craft vessel will then return to the island from the Lancashire port at 11:30 – almost three hours earlier than originally scheduled.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said a coach transfer from Lancaster Station to Heysham would be available for foot passengers, departing at 10:00.

The government-owned ferry firm delayed the routine maintenance on flagship Manxman from Saturday so that an extra crossing could be added to the weekend schedule to make up for cancellations on Thursday.

Those sailing were called off when the vessel suffered a technical issue on its overnight return from Heysham, leading to the back-up ferry Ben-my-Chree being brought in to operate on the route.
