Man arrested over £1.3m car transporter heroin haul

A man has been arrested and charged following the discovery of heroin with a potential street value of £1.35m in a vehicle on the A74(M) motorway near Lockerbie.

Police said officers made the find when they stopped a car transporter on the northbound carriageway on Wednesday.

Det Insp Gary Lamb described it as a "significant recovery" which had now been "removed from our streets".

A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with drug supply offences and was expected to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court.
