A 17-year-old motorcyclist has died two days after he collided with a car whose driver has been arrested.

Dorset Police said the crash, involving a white Mercedes-Benz A200 and a silver Yamaha motorbike, happened on the A35 Sea Road South in Bridport shortly after midnight on 5 July.

The teenager, from the Dorchester area, died in hospital on Tuesday afternoon, officers said.

A man in his 30s from west Dorset was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released under investigation while police inquiries continue.

Sgt Mike Burt said: "Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the boy who sadly died following this collision.

"I would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please come forward."
