Tens of thousands of people are expected at a seaside kite event this weekend.

Now in its third year, the Redcar Kite Festival is held at the town's Majuba Beach with organisers billing it as featuring "some of the largest and most spectacular kites".

They are confident the two-day event will attract a similar number of visitors to 2025 when about 30,000 people were estimated to have attended.

Tide times mean kites will be in the air from 12:00 to 18:00 BST with a range of other activities also scheduled, including free workshops and live entertainment.

BBC Radio Tees is hosting a music stage with acts also performing on the bandstand.

Redcar and Cleveland Council said it expected the area to be "very busy" across the weekend.

A park-and-ride scheme will be operating with coaches running from Kirkleatham Show Field, just outside the town, to the festival site on Majuba Road between 11:45 and 18:30.
