Thieves drove a telehandler into the front wall of a supermarket to steal a cash machine during an overnight ram-raid in Rutland.

Officers were called to the break-in at the Co-op store on Braunston Road, in Oakham, at 02:53 BST on Friday.

Leicestershire Police said "significant damage" was caused to the building as the cash machine was removed and "dragged away" by a 4x4 pickup truck, which drove off towards Balmoral Road.

The force said a scene preservation was in place at the store, adding the investigation remains at an early stage as inquiries continue.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the burglary - including residents with doorbell cameras and motorists with dashcam footage - to come forward.
