"This boat was sailing serenely down the Union Canal as part of the Canal Festival at the Fountainbridge basin, Edinburgh," said Eileen Martin. "It looked lovely, gently making its way along the canal in the sun."

Eleanor Ammons was celebrating the summer solstice with her friends on the beach in Edinburgh when she took this photo at about 01:00. "The skyline was sublime the whole evening, which backlit one of my favourite nights in Edinburgh," she said.

"The 03:00 alarm to catch the sunrise at Newburgh Beach, Aberdeenshire, was well worth it," said Abi Lyall.

"We were extremely fortunate to see a group of orcas passing through between the Bass Rock and Isle of May," said Helen Turner from Edinburgh. "It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see such incredible animals in the wild so close to home."

"I took advantage of the warm, settled weather to stay out overnight on the beach at Rattray Head," Gina Galbraith from Edinburgh said. "Shortly before sunrise I captured this view of the imposing lighthouse, looking like a fortress guarding the Aberdeenshire coast."
