Hendies, as the Castle Inn is known, hopes to have live bands performing outdoors

A neighbour living close to a pub has said they are worried the noise will be "unbearable" if plans to stage live music outdoors are given the go-ahead.

The Castle Inn on Brook Road in Shotton, Flintshire, already has a licence that allows music, films and sport to be shown indoors until midnight or 01:00 on most nights.

Under new plans submitted to Flintshire County Council, which will be considered on 29 June, the pub - better known as Hendies - would allow live bands to play on outdoor decking until 23:00.

One resident has objected, saying the noise could upset their elderly parents who are "already subjected to noise, screaming, shouting and karaoke".

"The noise from this will be unbearable," they added.

"At present people often leave their cars outside their home then return the next day to collect and several times they have been blocked in their own driveway even though Hendies has a car park."

Applicant Admiral Taverns said it had attempted to address concerns.

The new performance area would be subject to restrictions, including no customers with open beer bottles, and people will not be allowed to take open drinks off the premises.
