Viaduct works expected to cause disruption
GoogleDisruption and delays are expected for three months when roadworks on a city viaduct start.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Durranhill Viaduct in Carlisle, with one footway shut during work to replace bridge joints, resurfacing and repairs to the parapets on part of the structure.
The viaduct carries Eastern Way on the C1045 over Durranhill Road, linking Warwick Road on the A69 and London Road on the A6.
Cumberland Council, which is leading the project, said the first phase of the work was expected to start on 5 January.
A second phase, planned for the next financial year, would tackle repairs on the remaining spans not covered by the initial work, subject to funding, the council said.
The council is holding an event for people to find out more about the work on Monday at Harraby Community Centre.
More details are on the local authority's website.
