Calls for new evidence of abuse at private school
BBCThe woman leading an investigation into historic abuse at a college in Guernsey has called for more people to come forward.
Joanna Nicolas was appointed by Elizabeth College back in April and has been tasked with looking into allegations raised by pupils who attended the school in the 1970s and 1980s.
The independent safeguarding consultant said she was "encouraged" by the number of people who had come forward to help.
Elizabeth College said Nicholas would continue taking submissions for evidence until 30 June, describing the review as "an opportunity for your voice to be heard".
"Ms Nicolas thanks everyone who has contributed to date," said John Roche, chair of the board of directors of Elizabeth College.
"For some former pupils this has required considerable thought but the feedback she has received from those who have chosen to engage is that they have found it a worthwhile and helpful process," he said.
He said the board continued to encourage anyone who had experienced abuse whilst they were a pupil at the college, or those who had information they wanted to share with Nicolas, to get in contact with her.
"This is your opportunity for your voice to be heard and your views to be captured," he added.
He said Guernsey Police was aware of the review and he encouraged anyone who knew of a crime to report it, whether or not it was recent.
