Man appears in court after woman's death in Dundee

A 42-year-old man has appeared in court charged with assault following the death of a woman in Dundee at the weekend.

Police were called to a report of a possible disturbance at a property in Milnbank Road in the city's west end at about 09:55 on Saturday.

Officers attended and a woman was found unresponsive, before being pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Andrew Bajek appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court charged with assault to severe injury and a breach of the peace. He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

The case was continued for further examination.

Det Insp James Callander said: "Further inquiries into the death remain ongoing.

"There is no risk to the public and police will remain in the area while the investigation continues.

"We would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to these officers."
