Property wrecked after fire tears through roof

Fire has torn through a home in Weymouth, destroying its roof.

Four crews were called to the two storey building in Sanderling Close, Weymouth, shortly before 02:30 BST.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze began in the roof space above a first-floor flat.

Crews using breathing apparatus and an aerial ladder platform extinguished the fire by 05:30 and returned on Thursday to check for hotspots.

The cause is believed to be electrical and accidental, the fire service said.
