A football-mad family from the US have been reunited with one of their favourite players after he left their local side to sign for Derby County.

The Pendrys, who support North Carolina-based Charlotte FC, visited Pride Park Stadium for the Rams's New Year's Day win against Middlesbrough and were invited to meet US striker Patrick Agyemang pitch-side before kick-off.

Capped by his country, Agyemang signed for the Rams from the MLS side for £5.8m in July 2025 and has become a fan favourite, scoring six goals in 21 appearances.

Speaking to BBC Radio Derby, dad Ben Pendry said: "We had the opportunity to come and see Patrick play and it's been a great family trip to come and see Derby."

Mr Pendry said they were big fans of Agyemang during his time in the MLS where he scored 17 goals in 59 appearances for Charlotte FC.

He added his son Branch would often wake up early in the morning to check Derby County results to see how Agyemang got on and would "run downstairs shouting" if he scored.

Agyemang, 25, started the game against Middlesbrough but was unable to mark the occasion with a goal.

After meeting his US visitors, the striker said: "It's amazing, I obviously love their support and to see them come over is crazy, so I'm happy that they're here."
