Driver dies as lorry crashes through M27 slip road barrier
GoogleA driver in his 20s has died after his lorry left a motorway slip road and crashed through a bridge barrier onto the ground below.
The lorry had been travelling on the southbound carriageway of the M3 between junction 13 and junction 14, near Eastleigh, Hampshire.
Hampshire Police said the lorry left the M27 westbound slip road at about 22:00 BST on Tuesday, coming to rest near Chestnut Avenue, which runs under the slip road. The force said the driver died at the scene and his family has been informed.
The two left lanes leading to the slip road, as well as Chestnut Avenue, between Nightingale Avenue and Falkland Road, remain closed. Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for journeys.
Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
