Police taped off Heriot Bridge in The Grassmarket in Edinburgh's Old Town

A firefighter and a resident have been treated in hospital following a fire in Edinburgh's Old Town.

Emergency services were called to the property in Heriot Bridge just after 10:30 on Thursday in The Grassmarket.

A male firefighter was taken to hospital with minor injuries and a man was treated for smoke inhalation.

Police said the fire was not being treated as suspicious and the road has now been reopened.
