Police have made an arrest after officers received reports of a man walking into a West Sussex supermarket carrying a knife.

No injuries were reported, but Adur and Worthing Police posted online that its officers were conducting "extensive searches" to "identify and locate" the person involved.

Officers later arrested a man on Brighton Road in Shoreham on suspicion of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Det Supt Andrew Harbour said: "We recognise the concern this incident will have caused the community, and I'd like to give the reassurance that we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
