School forced into lockdown as man wields knife
Getty ImagesA primary school was forced into lockdown after a man was spotted wielding a knife on the street outside.
Officers received a report that the man was making threats towards another man at 11:15 BST on Thursday.
Nobody was injured and no arrests have been made so far following the incident on Evenlode Road in Gloucester, near Willow Primary Academy.
Appealing for witnesses, Gloucestershire Constabulary said the men involved had "no direct connection to the school".
The force said the altercation was believed to be linked to an incident on the same road shortly beforehand, involving "the sighting of a firearm in a vehicle".
The force said the primary school "activated its lockdown protocol as a precaution".
A "large police presence" was part of the force's response. It said neighbourhood officers remained nearby to offer support and reassurance to the school and community.
Police said the vehicle involved in the earlier firearm incident was understood to have been a black Renault Clio.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the car, which was in the area between 10:20 and 11:15 BST, or anyone who has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage.
