A fugitive from Derbyshire who was named as one of UK's most wanted criminal suspects has been arrested in Belgium.

Spencer Dillon Lamb, who is originally from the Swadlincote area, was wanted for allegedly cultivating and supplying Class A drugs between May 2020 and May 2021.

The 33-year-old was detained by Belgian police officers in a rental property in Brecht on Thursday, with drugs and a firearm also recovered from the property.

Lamb, who recently featured on the National Crime Agency's "most wanted" list remains in custody in Belgium where extradition proceedings to have him returned to the UK will begin, Derbyshire Police said.

The force said the arrest followed extensive research and was carried out by the Fugitives Active Search Team Belgium in cooperation with the local police and supported by the National Crime Agency and Derbyshire Police.

Lamb is the 100th fugitive captured since the start of Operation Captura, a multi-agency campaign run in conjunction with the independent charity Crimestoppers, aimed at tracking down the UK's most wanted individuals.

Rachael Blood, from Derbyshire Police's International Liaison Office, said: "Lamb was wanted for a number of serious offences dating back several years.

"His capture should serve as a warning to other offenders that just because you leave the country – doesn't mean you will evade justice."
