An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital following reports of a stabbing.

Lancashire Police said they were called to an incident in the Fishmoor Drive area of Blackburn just before 19:00 BST on Monday.

The boy was found to have a single wound to his back and has since been discharged from hospital, a force spokesperson said.

A second 11-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A police spokesperson said: "We know that hearing about this may be of concern, so we wanted to let you know what had happened."

The force has appealed for anyone with information to contact it.
