A tree planted in memory of children who have died has been stolen from a park.

Liskeard Town Council, in Cornwall, said the cherry tree in Thorn Park was one of several planted in February 2024 in memory of the young people from the town who had died in 2022 and 2023.

It said the tree, which was planted by relatives and loved ones at a ceremony, was "missing" and appeared to had been "dug up and taken, possibly to be replanted elsewhere".

Following the disappearance the council has appealed for any information to help identify those responsible or recover it, and "even the smallest piece of information could make a difference", it added.
