A number of farewell services have been arranged for the outgoing Dean of Guernsey.

The Very Reverend Tim Barker announced in January that he would retire on 31 July after about 11 years in the role.

Four services have been planned across Guernsey, Sark and Alderney to mark his departure.

He said he would be marking the conclusion of his ministry in the Deanery of Guernsey and his Guernsey responsibilities as Dean at a service at the Town Church on Sunday 21 June at 18:30 BST.

Barber said it would give him the opportunity "to take leave of Guernsey and express my thanks for the privilege of ministering here for nearly 11 years".

He said 28 June marked the 45th anniversary of his ordination as a priest and he would take his leave of the parish of St Andrew, where he served as Rector, at a service at St Andrew's church, at 10.00 BST.

Further to those he said he would be in Sark on 5 July for a service at St Peter's church at 11.15 BST, and in Alderney on 12 July for a service at St Anne's church at 10.00 BST.

He led his 11th and last Liberation Day service on 9 May.

The Deanery of Guernsey said interviews would take place at the end of June as part of the process of discernment for the appointment of the next Dean, which would be overseen by the Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant General Sir Richard Cripwell KBE CB.

It said from 1 August and until the installation of the next Dean, the Revd Canon Jon Honour would be the acting Dean.
