A service providing a safe space for revellers in Wolverhampton will be operating on extra nights in the run-up to Christmas.

The Late Night Safe Haven at the Urban Room in Queen Square will be available on four additional dates in December.

The scheme was first introduced in 2021 and offers support, including medical help, for visitors while they make arrangements to get home.

City of Wolverhampton Council said it would be in operation on 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20 December, from 22:30 to 03:30 GMT.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed said: "This extra provision will make a real difference, ensuring that people enjoying our vibrant city centre can do so safely, while also reducing pressure on emergency services."

Funding for the four extra nights in December was made available by the Safer Wolverhampton Partnership and the Wolverhampton Business Improvement District (BID).
