A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after two people were found dead in East Sussex.

Police said they were called to an address in Seven Acre Close, St Leonards, shortly after 04:30 BST following reports a man and a woman had been injured.

The bodies of a 66-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were found inside the property.

"This is a tragic loss of life," said Sussex Police Det Supt Jay Mendis-Gunasekera. "Our thoughts are with the victims and their families and friends at this very difficult time."

He added there would be an increased police presence in the area while officers completed their enquiries and urged anyone with relevant information to contact Sussex Police.
