Where and when to see the World Tin Bath Championships
MANX SCENESThe World Tin Bath Championships return to the Isle of Man on Saturday.
One of the island's most popular summer community events sees competitors race each other up and down Castletown Harbour in regulation metal bathtubs.
Many of the tubs are elaborately decorated while some of their paddlers choose to take part in fancy dress.
Organised by the Castletown Ale Drinkers Society since 1971, the championships draw large crowds to the harbourside to see who floats... and who sinks.
Road closures
Castle Street, Thirtle Bridge and Bridge Street will be closed to traffic between 12:30 BST and 18:30 to both allow competitors to access the harbour and spectators to watch them in action.
Other roads in the area affected by the closures around the harbour are Bank Street, Back Hope Street, Victoria Road, Hope Street, Quayside and The Steps.
MANX SCENES'Scrutineering'
Scrutineering for the tin bath races takes place between 12:00 BST and 13:30, with the first heat due to start at 14:10.
Signing on for the snake races begins at 12:30, with the first heat starting two hours later.
The events in the harbour culminate in the "man powered flying attempt".
This sees entrants jump into the water from a catwalk.
Organisers said the championships had very few rules - except for a ban on the use of engines.
MANX SCENESSpectators have been encouraged to "enjoy the atmosphere, support competitors and experience one of the island's most unusual and entertaining traditions".
Those travelling to Castletown for the fun and games have been urged to arrive early, park responsibly, and allow extra time for their journey.
