Reform councillor suspended after drink-drive charge

A Reform UK councillor has been suspended from the party after being charged with drink-driving.

Peter Reeve was elected on 7 May to represent the Peterborough ward of Stanground South.

The leader of the Peterborough Reform UK group, Andrew O'Neil, confirmed that Reeve had been suspended from Reform UK by the party's general secretary, but did not give a reason.

Reeve appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on 14 August, charged with driving a motor vehicle when above the legal alcohol limit, and was granted unconditional bail.

He has not entered a plea to the charge and the hearing was adjourned until 22 September.

Reeve is also in the process of being removed from his party's group on the city council, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

He had previously been a councillor on Cambridgeshire County Council, Huntingdonshire District Council and Ramsey Town Council.

O'Neil did not wish to comment any further.
