Bus helps encourage young people into sport

A No Boundaries minibus has been launched by Kent Cricket Community Trust (KCCT) to help young people make friends and get into sport.

The bus, which will travel around the county, has DJ decks, games consoles and spaces for conversation on board.

The scheme has been funded by donations from the Kent Reliance Community Foundation and fundraising activities during Chris Cowdrey's year as president of Kent Cricket.

Sessions have already began running in the summer holidays.

Vice-chair of KCCT, Liz Davidson-Kennett said: "This is a great and unique asset for our charity to deliver street cricket and other sport and activity-based initiatives for young people across Kent.

"We are delighted to be able to put it to use immediately in our six-week Sevenoaks Summer of Sport programme alongside Millwall Community Trust."

Jennie Fielder, from Kemsing, has taken her two children to four out of the five sessions so far this summer.

She said: "It Seems to be something for everybody. It's quite relaxed. There's no pressure on the kids to kind of know either or both of the sports.

"Everyone's very friendly. It's all good. I really enjoyed it."
