Wiltshire Times reported on a burnt out car discovered in woods near Longleat Safari Park. The vehicle was found by a dog walker in Cannimore Woods on 6 September and locals said it was "incredibly lucky" that the fire did not spread.

A kebab shop in Swindon has been fined £40,000 for hiring workers illegally. The Swindon Advertiser reported that the Brazilian restaurant Recanto in Commercial Road was visited by the Home Office recently.

Gloucestershire Live reported on the "outcry" over plans for a new cycle path in Gloucester. Residents said the stretch near the Oval - part of a 26-mile route from Bishops Cleeve near Cheltenham to Stroud - was "crazy" and would create road safety hazards and parking problems.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge, in Bristol, had a starring role in the BBC's Casualty show when it was "blown up" for the dramatic opening of a 40th anniversary episode. Fans of the long-running show saw scenes of the bridge in the dark before a massive fireball erupted, reported Bristol Live.

The Reeds Arms pub in Burnham-on-Sea is to cut the price of all its food and drink by 7.5% on 17 September as part of a national campaign highlighting the impact of VAT on the hospitality industry. At present, pubs pay 20% VAT on all food and drink.
