Leicestershire Police said it had received a number of reports from residents about children entering the demolition site.
A spokesperson said: "While many people are understandably interested in the demolition of such a well-known part of the community, we are asking all parents and guardians to please speak with children and young people about the dangers of entering the site."
East Leicester PoliceThe site was previously used as the local boys' and youth club, which started operating from the centre in 1972.
The force said the structure poses a "serious risk of injury" from falling debris, rubble, hazardous waste and other dangers.
It has urged parents to check on their children when they are out playing, especially during evenings and school holidays.
