Public hearing request for rapist's parole
Hampshire and Isle of Wight ConstabularyA request has been made for a public parole hearing for a rapist who filmed himself attacking unconscious women.
Romeo Cummins, of Basingstoke, Hampshire, was jailed for life in 2016. He was ordered to serve a minimum of nine years with no automatic right of release.
Cummins was arrested in possession of crack cocaine, heroin and sleeping tablets in Aldershot and admitted 16 counts of rape, sexual assault and five drugs offences.
Parole hearings in the UK are held in private but interested parties can apply for it to be made public.
The attacks took place over the three years prior to Cummins' arrest.
Police said he had more than 100 videos of him attacking unconscious victims held on his phone.
The Parole Board said it had received an application for the oral hearing in the case of Cummins to be heard in public.
The board said any further representations on the case should be submitted by 26 June.
