Man accused of woman's murder dies in custody

A man accused of murdering a woman whose body was found at a Leeds high-rise tower block has died while in custody in prison.

Colin Mann, 52, was charged with murdering Tracy Davenport, 58, after she was found dead at Cottingley Towers on 24 July by officers responding to a concern for safety call made to West Yorkshire Police.

Mann was being held at HMP Leeds, but a force spokesperson said police received a call at about 04:40 BST on Friday to say he had died after being taken to hospital.

The spokesperson said Mann's death was being treated as "unexplained", however it is believed he died of a heart attack.

Mann was next due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 27 August.
