Rumoured wedding celebrations for pop star Taylor Swift and American football-player Travis Kelce have taken over New York City.

The two days of events led to the shutdown of one of the busiest corridors of America's largest city as a barrage of A-list celebrities arrived to celebrate. For days, all eyes had been on Madison Square Garden, where workers had been spotted carrying in event props, food and tons of gear.

Hoards of fans - some singing Swift's songs and others wearing her merchandise - gathered outside each day to wish the couple happiness and try to sneak a peak of both the guests and how the couple transformed the massive sports arena into a wedding venue.

Around 100 people were expected at an event on Thursday - billed by US media as a rehearsal dinner or a pre-party.

A much larger event on Friday boasted a lengthy guest list of A-list star, including Hugh Grant, Benson Boone, Jason Sudeikis and American athletes. Around 1,000 people were expected.
