Donkey donation box stolen from outside field
Jake Zuckerman / BBCA donation box used to buy food for donkeys has been stolen from a gate outside their field.
The money would have been used to buy carrots for people to feed to Empress and Duchess in their paddock at Burgh le Marsh near Skegness.
Owner Jordan Elliott said the pair, who are pregnant, are popular with locals who like to stop and feed them.
He said he was shocked when he discovered the box had been taken sometime over the weekend. The incident has not been reported to Lincolnshire Police but the force urged victims of crime to always contact them.
Elliott told the BBC he did not see the point in reporting the theft to police.
He added: "Why steal off the community?
"Why steal off the donkeys? And you just think, was it really worth it?
"[I'm] just a bit bamboozled by it all."
Elliott said he did not know how much money was taken but it was likely to be "just a few quid".
One resident, Chris Davison, said people "love the donkeys".
"There's no words for that really, are there?," he said.
"How can you be that low? I mean, it's for the donkeys, for goodness sake."
A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: "We'd always encourage people to report anything suspicious or when a crime is believed to have happened.
"Where there are relevant lines of enquiry we will always investigate. If no lines of enquiry are available, it will help us build a picture of crime in an area and may form part of a bigger policing operation."
