Family's tribute to 'cherished' stabbing victim

A 55-year-old man who was stabbed to death in Doncaster has been named by police as his family paid tribute.

Wayne Solomon was found seriously injured in Galsworthy Close just before 23:00 BST on Wednesday, and died later in hospital.

His family said in a statement: "Wayne wasn't just loved, he was cherished. His kindness, warmth and sense of humour made him unforgettable, and he will remain in our hearts forever."

A 46-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder, possession of an offensive weapon, dangerous driving and robbery has been bailed pending further inquiries, South Yorkshire Police said.

Det Ch Insp Ben Wood said: "Our investigation into Wayne's death is continuing at pace and we are continuing to appeal for information which can assist or inquiries.

"His family are currently having to come to terms with the unimaginable loss of Wayne in the most devastating of circumstances.

"We remain committed to providing answers for his loved ones and securing justice for them.

"Our thoughts are with the many people who knew and loved him."
